Job Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain valid CA noncommercial Class C License
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to drive university vehicles
  • Must be available to work varying schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Background check required
  • Live scan background check prior to employment
  • Candidate must be 18 years or older
  • Subject to California DMV Pull Notice System and maintain satisfactory driving record

Job Qualifications

  • 2+ years management experience in a high-volume catering operation
  • Highly developed interpersonal communication skills including political acumen and social perceptiveness
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience maintaining high productivity with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
  • Skill interacting effectively with guests, team members, and managers in a high-volume public setting
  • Demonstrated skill in supervising staff, including delegating work and motivating team members
  • Proficient in standard business software, food service applications, and hospitality sales software
  • Skill in writing grammatically correct business English
  • Working knowledge of safety and sanitation rules for food service
  • Math skills sufficient for production and customer payment transactions
  • Ability to assemble material and equipment inventories and monitor usage for cost control
  • Skill in budget preparation, analysis, and controlling costs
  • Working knowledge of university and departmental policies related to recruitment, training, performance evaluations, disciplinary procedures, and time reporting (preferred)

Job Duties

  • Provide team leadership for setting, servicing, and customer service for events and deliveries
  • Supervise and schedule career and casual staff
  • Manage preparation and service of up to 40 events per day
  • Coordinate equipment management
  • Assist in management of inventory and cost control of department resources
  • Serve as Manager on Duty in the Director of Catering's absence
  • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation regulations
