Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED plus two years of college education or vocational/technical post-secondary education
  • at least two years related food and beverage management experience
  • ability to train personnel on effective and safe use of cooking equipment
  • current ServSafe certification or ability to complete within six months
  • must be able to work variable hours
  • excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • ability to organize events and manage staffing schedules
  • experience in financial oversight of inventory and purchasing
  • knowledge of institutional cooking tools and equipment
  • motivated and self-starting with ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • computer skills in word processing, email, spreadsheets, database, and PowerPoint preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED plus two years of college or vocational/technical post-secondary education
  • at least two years of related food and beverage management experience
  • experience working in a catering environment preferred
  • knowledge of food service practices and procedures
  • ability to train staff on safe equipment use
  • experience scheduling and managing employees
  • good knowledge of institutional cooking equipment
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • current or ability to obtain ServSafe certification
  • computer proficiency preferred
  • ability to foster positive work environment

Job Duties

  • Oversees and manages daily catering operations including event scheduling and execution, staff scheduling, training, and marketing
  • ensures quality standards are maintained including security, safety, and sanitation standards
  • employs good safety and sanitation practices
  • develops operational systems and procedures concerning product handling, storage, inventory management, and event transportation
  • troubleshoots service issues and manages service recovery
  • listens to clients and translates their requests into executable events
  • builds and maintains strong relationships with students, campus constituents, team members, and other clients
  • supports team members with tools necessary including scheduling, training, and communication
  • fosters a positive work environment boosting morale and productivity
  • supports financial outcomes and profit goals
  • assists in control of inventories, product costs, and purchasing
  • partners with Dining Services staff to ensure flawless execution of events and marketing initiatives
  • performs other duties as assigned
