Job Requirements

  • Must have five years related experience demonstrating knowledge of standardized mess or club catering and events practices
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management preferred
  • Knowledge of food and beverage operations, catering sales techniques, and banquet operations
  • Ability to coordinate with various workstations to meet customer requirements
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy in interactions
  • Knowledge of purchasing methods and proper storage
  • Ability to prepare reports and contractual arrangements
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and over 45lbs with assistance

Job Qualifications

  • Five years experience demonstrating knowledge of standardized mess/club or comparable catering and events practices, procedures, and pricing
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management preferred
  • Knowledge of food and beverage operations including catering sales techniques and banquet operations
  • Ability to coordinate with various workstations to satisfy customer catering and party requirements
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy in dealing with clients, subordinates, and managerial personnel
  • Knowledge of methods and procedures for purchasing, storing, and preventing spoilage and pilferage of food products
  • Ability to prepare reports and complete simple contractual arrangements
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Job Duties

  • Plan, direct, and supervise the catering and events program at Officers' Club, Semper Fi Catering, and Events Center
  • Acquire new sales leads while maintaining current sales and client relationships
  • Assist in setting goals and budgets for the catering and events program
  • Review financial status and recommend changes to increase profitability
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety laws and internal policies
  • Drive process improvements to enhance customer service and operational efficiencies
  • Plan and coordinate special catering events such as membership affairs, command functions, cultural events, and balls
  • Meet with clients to discuss requirements and explain services offered
  • Prepare contracts, collect deposits, and process financial paperwork
  • Supervise events as required
  • Coordinate food and beverage needs with club personnel
  • Arrange supplies, decorations, equipment, and personnel
  • Maintain private party book and contract file
  • Follow up with client evaluations of services rendered
  • Promote catering program marketing plan
  • Establish catering prices if applicable
  • Plan, organize work, manage internal procedures and resources for maximum productivity
  • Supervise Event Coordinators, counsel, train employees, schedule and direct work
  • Approve or disapprove leave and personnel actions
  • Oversee recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and job training
  • Provide exceptional customer service and uphold high service standards
  • Adhere to safety regulations and standards
  • Use required safety equipment and observe safe work procedures
  • Report workplace hazards, injuries, or property damage promptly
  • Support principles of EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment
  • Lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
