Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in food service or catering support
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of at least 3 hours without stopping
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, and reach
  • Ability to work in various conditions including hot, cold, or wet environments
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain Food Service Sanitation Certification within one school year
  • Reliable transportation for travel between district locations especially during evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Experience supporting catering, event service, and high-volume banquet cooking
  • Demonstrated experience as an elevated cook or chef's assistant is highly desirable
  • Strong practical skills in food production and presentation
  • Must possess a Food Service Sanitation Certification or be able to take the course and get certified within one school year
  • Must have reliable transportation available for evening and weekend work and travel between district locations

Job Duties

  • Assist with the physical set-up, preparation, service, and cleaning up for special events, banquets, and catering functions
  • Support the manager and chef in preparing a diverse menu of food items focusing on advanced culinary techniques, presentation, and quality
  • Assist with inventory counting, staging, transporting, and breakdown of equipment required for on-site and off-site events
  • Help prepare daily meals using large-scale cooking methods and approved recipes when not dedicated to catering events
  • Strictly follow all safe and clean food handling rules and ensure all food service areas meet high standards of safety and sanitation
