Job Requirements

  • minimum of one year progressive events experience
  • participation in leader in development program and/or coordinator role
  • college degree preferred
  • proven leadership skills
  • proven selling, negotiating, and presentation skills
  • strong communication and customer service skills
  • knowledge of culinary techniques and banquet setups
  • ability to calculate financial figures
  • ability to work cohesively with others
  • strong decision-making skills
  • ability to work under pressure
  • proficiency with computer systems including Delphi
  • flexible schedule availability including nights, weekends, holidays
  • physical ability to stand, walk, lift, push, pull, and carry moderate weights

Job Qualifications

  • minimum of one year progressive events experience including participation in leader in development program and/or coordinator role
  • large venue experience strongly preferred
  • college degree preferred
  • proven leadership skills with ability to delegate, train, develop, and motivate staff
  • proven selling, negotiating, and presentation skills
  • ability to communicate with guests and direct them to various hotel facilities and functions
  • conversant with culinary techniques and food creativity
  • knowledgeable in banquet setups and room decoration creativity
  • ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
  • ability to work cohesively with co-workers
  • ability to think clearly and make concise decisions
  • ability to work well under pressure handling multiple guest requests
  • highly developed customer service skills with an approachable demeanor and strong problem-solving
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • developed computer skills with ability to accurately input information into systems
  • Delphi software experience required
  • ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to stand, walk for extended periods, lift up to 40 lbs, and push, pull, carry up to 50 lbs

Job Duties

  • support the catering sales team by servicing catering functions once contracted
  • maximize catering revenues wherever possible and up-sell to increase check averages
  • communicate with clients to confirm all meeting logistics and catering menu details
  • create diagrams, banquet event orders, and other necessary documentation to ensure the operations team has all the necessary information to deliver a flawless event
  • occasionally work with culinary team to customize menus while remaining profitable
  • work closely with other departments to ensure a seamless event experience for clients and their guests
  • coordinate catering support services including flowers, entertainment, decoration, audiovisual equipment while always striving to surprise and delight clients
