Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • able to attend district-provided food service training courses including Short Food Course I
  • capable of standing for extended periods
  • able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • able to operate commercial kitchen equipment safely
  • ability to work cooperatively with diverse coworkers
  • capable of working in elevated temperature and humidity environments
  • reliable and punctual with consistent attendance
  • able to follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment as directed
  • able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • capable of managing interruptions and multitasking
  • willing to adapt to organizational changes and follow supervisory guidance

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • experience in school food service operations preferred but not required
  • completion or willingness to complete Short Food Course I paid by district
  • ability to operate food service and cleaning equipment
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation procedures
  • ability to maintain professional appearance and conduct

Job Duties

  • Organizes site work setting up and tearing down serving lines and bars under supervision
  • understands and practices good nutrition in food preparation and service
  • assists with serving food to students and adults
  • operates dish room area washing trays, silverware, and kitchen utensils
  • washes pots and pans in three-compartment sink
  • operates French fryer and other kitchen equipment
  • operates cash register including counting money, making change, and processing daily reports
  • assists in controlling food and supply costs through proper handling and storage
  • communicates and works effectively with fellow employees
  • maintains good public relations with students, parents, faculty, and community
  • assists with catering tasks if required
  • demonstrates regular and reliable attendance
