Job Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Six months cashier experience preferred
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services
  • Ability to assess customer needs and meet quality standards
  • Ability to operate cash register
  • Capability to clean and sanitize food service areas
  • Skills in food preparation including following recipes and portion control
  • Ability to work variable shifts
  • Capability to maintain accurate records and minimize food waste

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and food safety regulations
  • Skills in operating kitchen equipment

  • Basic food preparation skills including portion control and food temperature monitoring

Job Duties

  • Thoroughly clean all areas of the cafeteria including serving areas, tables, chairs, floors, counters, shelves, cashier stands, coolers, beverage area, and assigned equipment
  • Provide excellent customer service by taking food orders, serving and preparing food for hospital customers
  • Serve customers following proper portioning techniques
  • Take and record food temperatures, taking proper action if food is outside proper temperature range
  • Operate cash register following Kaweah Health cash handling and customer service guidelines
  • Assist with catering setup and cleanup
  • Perform various food prep assignments including salads, sandwiches, desserts, and special diet meals
  • Stock work stations routinely
  • Dispose of garbage according to department standards
  • Deliver patient trays if needed
  • Follow all rules and procedures to clean and sanitize workstations, counters, and equipment
  • Operate kitchen equipment for measuring, mixing ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting, and preparing foodstuffs
  • Monitor and minimize food waste
  • Deliver food/meals to physician lounges and replenishing as needed
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and food temperature logs
  • Store products properly according to established procedures
