Job Requirements
- High school education preferred
- ability to perform basic math including discounts and percentage calculations
- ability to communicate effectively in English
- capable of performing physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds
- ability to work in refrigerated and heated environments
- able to memorize weekly ad prices and specials
- able to use hands for handling objects and operate equipment

Job Qualifications
- High school education preferred
- successful completion of an apprenticeship or training program is a plus
- or equivalent combination of education and experience
- be able to calculate figures such as discounts, gross margins, percentages, and apply basic algebra concepts for transactions
- be able to accurately complete required reports including daily sales and inventory counts
- possess effective verbal communication skills to assist customers and coworkers
- able to read, write, analyze, interpret and understand English with proficiency
- ability to handle various sales transactions and payment methods
- knowledge of store policies and legal requirements regarding sales and cash handling
Job Duties
- Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service or assistance
- adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations
- take responsibility for cash drawer contents at the start and end of shifts
- maintain cashier accountability including over/shorts of till
- scan or record customer purchases efficiently and accurately
- assist customers with bulk products when needed
- collect money from customers and tender accurate change following company policies
- process various types of sales transactions including Accounts Receivable sales, EFT transactions, WIC Coupons, Food Stamps, manufacturers' coupons, and gift certificates
- bag or package merchandise according to company procedures
- handle damaged or spoiled products and return them to stock according to policy
- ring all sales into the cash register accurately
- verify all customer IDs and follow store policies for checks and alcoholic beverage sales
- notify management promptly of any cash irregularities exceeding set limits
- record price discrepancies and request price checks promptly
- maintain general housekeeping and sanitation standards
- assist in keeping checkout, sales and storage areas clean and orderly
- use and maintain equipment in good working order and report malfunctions immediately
- adhere to company cash handling policies including excessive cash in registers and cash pickups
- observe security standards by monitoring customer behavior and report abnormalities
- secure registers when unattended to protect company assets
- notify department managers of personnel or policy issues affecting store performance
- perform other related duties as assigned
- assist in training associates and maintain good communication within the department and organization
- comply with safety policies and procedures
- maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and follow dress code regulations
