Job Requirements
- High school education preferred with successful completion of an apprenticeship/training program or equivalent combination of education and experience
- be able to calculate figures such as discounts, gross margins, percentages and apply basic algebra in sales transactions and vendor invoice verification
- be able to accurately complete reports including daily sales, inventory counts and cash reconciliation forms
- ability to hear, speak and understand English to respond to pages and customer requests and to communicate effectively
- ability to read, write, analyze and understand English to follow instructions and policies
- ability to sit, stand and use hands regularly
- occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds
- ability to climb ladders and perform cleaning tasks
- ability to respond quickly to emergencies
- tolerance to dust and chemical fumes
- ability to memorize weekly ad prices and daily specials
- work environment includes exposure to cold and hot temperatures and moderate noise level

Job Duties
- Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service or assistance
- adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations
- responsibility of cash drawer contents in both the start and end of the actual work shift
- cashier accountability including over/shorts of till
- scan or record the purchases of a customer into a cash register efficiently and accurately
- be knowledgeable in and able to recognize or differentiate between all the various types of produce merchandise carried in the store
- assist customers with bulk products that they may have difficulty in handling
- collect money in the form of cash or checks from customers and tender accurate change
- process various types of sales transactions including authorized accounts receivable sales, EFT transactions, WIC coupons, food stamps, manufacturers' coupons, gift certificates in accordance with company policies
- bag or package merchandise
- handle damaged or spoiled products according to company policy
- ring all sales into cash register according to company cash handling procedures
- verify all customer IDs and observe store policies for acceptance of checks and sale of alcohol
- notify management promptly of any irregularities in cash handling
- record price discrepancies and request price checks
- maintain housekeeping and sanitation standards
- assist in keeping checkout and storage areas clean and in good order
- use and maintain equipment in good working order
- adhere to company cash handling policies
- observe security standards and report abnormal behavior
- secure register at all times
- notify department manager of personnel or policy issues
- perform other assigned duties as needed
