Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior cashier or customer service experience preferred
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
- Must wear proper work attire including apron or vest, nametag, closed-toed shoes, and shirt with sleeves
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers and staff
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to adapt to changing work environment and manage competing demands
- Basic math skills
- Ability to follow safety and security protocols
- Ability to operate register and handle cash transactions accurately
Job Qualifications
- Comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Communicate effectively in oral or written form
- Present information effectively in one-to-one and small group situations
- Competent in basic arithmetic, fractions, ratios, and percentages
- Perform operations using US currency and units of weight, volume, and distance
- Apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions
- Deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations
- Proficient with word processing software
- Proficient with spreadsheet software
- Proficient with email
- Able to operate a manual pallet jack
- Knowledge of appropriate cleaning methods and materials
Job Duties
- Exceed customers expectations for service and provide a welcoming environment
- Receive payment and give change accurately
- Avoid common errors related to giving change and voiding transactions
- Enter correct departments and correct prices for products
- Maintain a working knowledge of all PLUs and register procedures
- Maintain a working knowledge of all store processes related to Front End operations
- Perform side duties such as front facing, retrieving shopping carts, cleaning registers and restrooms, restocking
- Assist customers in establishing and renewing ownerships
- Bag groceries appropriately
- Follow safe job practices and keep work area clean and organized
- Wear proper clothing including apron or vest, nametag, closed-toed shoes, and shirt with sleeves
- Report safety and security concerns promptly
- Adhere to scheduled shifts and be ready when shift begins
- Manage and de-escalate difficult customer situations
- Orient and assist new employees
- Set positive examples for co-workers
- Participate in department meetings
- Abide by all Co-op policies and procedures
