Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • One year of prior retail or related experience preferred
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact politely and effectively with customers
  • Good customer service and organizational skills
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Willingness to comply with company policies and safety guidelines

Job Duties

  • Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases
  • Process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons
  • Weigh and carefully bag customer purchases
  • Understand use of check-stand equipment and its efficient operation
  • Perform front-end duties such as merchandising check-stand products
  • Ensure proper use of product identification and PLUs, report pricing errors
  • Maintain knowledge of current store programs and product locations
  • Communicate company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers
  • Comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling, product handling, and sale of restricted items
  • Maintain a clean and well-stocked department adhering to safety and sanitation standards
  • Assist with stocking items as needed
  • Follow all PPE, safety, food safety, cleaning, and guest experience guidelines
  • May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
