Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- ability to stand 5 to 8 hours during shifts
- capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
- open availability for flexible scheduling including weekdays and weekends
- reliable transportation to commute to Hilo, HI 96720
- basic cash handling experience
- good customer service skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous cashier or retail experience is a plus
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- basic math skills for handling cash
- friendly and approachable demeanor
- adaptability to shift changes and varying schedules
Job Duties
- Handle cash, credit or check transactions with customers
- scan goods and collect payments
- ensure pricing is correct
- issue change and receipts
- count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change
- make sales referrals, cross-sell products, and introduce new ones
- greet customers when entering or leaving establishment
- maintain clean and tidy checkout areas
- keep reports of transactions
- answer customers' questions and get a manager if answer does not solve the issue
- pleasantly deal with customers to ensure satisfaction
- be able to stand 5 to 8 hours at the register
- perform cleaning chores when scheduled to close
- be creative and adaptable to changing demands
