Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree preferred
  • three years of progressively responsible experience in customer service and cashier related field
  • ability to manage own work to job and performance standards
  • ability to lead a group of employees
  • intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • effective communication skills with employees and students
  • understanding of financial transactions and reconciliation processes

Job Qualifications

  • college-level coursework in business, management or accounting desired

  • knowledge of financial and cashiering systems

Job Duties

  • Apply payments to appropriate accounts by collecting cash and cash-related transactions including third party billing documents
  • evaluate transactions for accuracy and validity
  • create official payment receipts and apply coverage
  • reconcile collections through daily review and balance of transactions
  • research student account inquiries by evaluating payment, refund, coverage and transaction history
  • compare account data from student, finance and financial aid systems
  • consolidate information into concise explanations
  • correct accounts through reimbursements or communication with other departments
  • provide information to internal and external customers by explaining rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • direct customers to appropriate departments or personnel
  • prepare and reconcile departmental bank deposits for transport
  • audit daily cash and collections of cashier staff
  • investigate and resolve out of balance errors
  • package collections and complete documentation
  • process purchase order receiving
  • serve as liaison to resolve interdepartmental issues
  • retain records according to procedures
  • maintain confidentiality of student information
  • safeguard college assets
  • initiate refunds
  • research credit card charge back requests
  • provide quality customer service
  • assume supervisory responsibilities in absence of the Cashier Supervisor
  • guide the work of entry level and newer cashier staff
