Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • at least six months experience as a cashier in a large volume operation or successful completion of MD Anderson Dining Services Apprentice Program
  • positive attitude and strong time management skills
  • commitment to teamwork
  • must obtain Texas Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of hire

Job Duties

  • Verify assigned bank is correct and set up register
  • perform cash handling transactions according to institutional and departmental guidelines
  • check out customers by verifying employee IDs and examining items on trays
  • provide customers with accurate register tallies, receipts, and correct change
  • prepare and verify daily sales totals with supervisor at shift closing
  • deposit money at end of shift
  • exhibit good guest relation skills with patients, visitors, employees, and management
  • prepare and serve beverages and food items as needed
  • maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized work area
  • replenish condiments, food items, trays, plastic-ware, and napkins
  • dispose of clutter and clean countertops frequently
  • train new employees as assigned
  • adapt to new locations or shifts as operations dictate
  • participate in cross-training and shift changes
