- Prior experience as a bagger or courtesy clerk is a plus
- Ability to work cooperatively under pressure
- Strong problem-solving skills
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Job Duties
- Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy
- Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and work honestly to control loss
- Understand and follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions or accidents, and notify store management
- Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting the need for repairs
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products
- Follow all local, state, federal laws and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
- Provide support through interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
