Job Duties

  • Actively greeting, engaging and assisting customers at the check lane
  • Processing customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the Point of Sale system
  • Handling various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policy
  • Controlling loss by adhering to cash shortage and overage limits and working honestly
  • Ensuring compliance with guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Reporting pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Following established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Staying current with seasonal, special, and future ads
  • Adhering to food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Complying with safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying management
  • Conducting preventive maintenance inspections and reporting repair needs
  • Creating a welcoming environment for customers by answering product questions
  • Adhering to local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines
  • Working cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Managing conflict reasonably and cooperatively
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Providing support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Performing essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
