Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • one year of prior retail or related experience preferred
  • good verbal communication skills
  • ability to interact politely and effectively with customers
  • good customer service and organizational skills
  • detail-oriented
  • basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills
  • ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • ability to bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
  • willingness to work in a retail store environment with varied temperatures and exposure to outside weather
  • compliance with company policies and safety guidelines

Job Duties

  • Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases
  • process various types of payments including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons
  • weigh and carefully bag customer purchases
  • understand and efficiently use check-stand equipment including register, scanner, scale, and belts
  • perform front-end merchandising duties
  • ensure proper use of product identification and report pricing or signage errors
  • maintain knowledge of current store programs and product locations
  • communicate company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers
  • comply with company policies on security, cash handling, product handling, sale of alcohol and tobacco
  • maintain a clean and well-stocked department adhering to safety and sanitation standards
  • assist with stocking items when needed
  • follow all PPE and safety guidelines
  • adhere to food safety and cleaning expectations
  • follow guest experience guidelines
  • perform tasks in other departments as assigned
  • additional responsibilities as needed
