Job Duties
- Actively greet, engage, and assist customers
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane
- Handle various payment methods including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, and coupons according to company policy
- Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and work to control loss
- Ensure compliance with guidelines on restricted sales items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management
- Inspect equipment to perform preventive maintenance and report needed repairs
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering product-related questions
- Adhere to local, state, federal laws, and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
- Provide assistance through interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
- Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
