Job Duties

  • Actively greet, engage, and assist customers
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane
  • Handle various payment methods including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, and coupons according to company policy
  • Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and work to control loss
  • Ensure compliance with guidelines on restricted sales items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management
  • Inspect equipment to perform preventive maintenance and report needed repairs
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering product-related questions
  • Adhere to local, state, federal laws, and company guidelines
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
  • Provide assistance through interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
