Job Requirements

  • Customer service experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
  • Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
  • Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues

Job Duties

  • Greet and assist customers actively and visibly at the checkout
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently
  • Handle various tender types including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons and loyalty offers according to company policy
  • Adhere to company policies on cash handling to control shortages and overages
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Promote safety by following established procedures and reporting unsafe conditions
  • Inspect equipment and report items needing repair
  • Provide knowledgeable answers to customer questions about products and store offerings
  • Handle customer interactions in a cooperative and nonconfrontational manner
  • Adhere to all local, state, federal laws and company policies
  • Support special customer needs including minors, individuals with disabilities, and older adults
  • Maintain honesty and integrity in all business dealings
