Job Duties

  • Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently
  • Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, and coupons
  • Control loss by adhering to limits on cash shortages and overages
  • Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with seasonal and special ads
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions and notify management
  • Perform preventive maintenance checks and report equipment needing repair
  • Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable and nonconfrontational manner
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
  • Provide support through interactions with minors, individuals with special needs and older adults
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
