Job Duties

  • Greet and assist customers actively and courteously
  • process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the Point of Sale system
  • handle various payment tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, and coupons as per company policy
  • adhere to company guidelines on cash shortages and overages and work to control loss
  • follow procedures for restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • comply with established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • stay informed about current, future, seasonal, and special promotions and ads
  • adhere to all food safety regulations and safety procedures
  • identify and report unsafe conditions or accidents to store management
  • perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repair needs
  • create a welcoming environment enabling customers to feel important and appreciated
  • comply with all local, state, federal laws and company policies
  • work cooperatively in fast-paced, sometimes stressful environments
  • manage conflicts reasonably and nonconfrontationally
  • act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • follow directions and seek assistance when solving customer or business issues
  • provide support through interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
