- Experience using point of sale (POS) systems is desirable but not mandatory
Job Duties
- Greet, engage and assist customers actively
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently
- Handle various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers and coupons following company policies
- Control loss by adhering to limits on cash shortages and overages and working honestly
- Follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow company policies for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons
- Stay updated on current, seasonal and special ads
- Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures
- Identify unsafe conditions or accidents and notify management
- Inspect equipment for maintenance needs and report issues
- Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers with product inquiries
- Comply with all local, state, federal laws and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in high-paced, sometimes stressful environments
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek help to resolve customer or business issues
- Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
- Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
