Job Duties
- Greet and engage customers actively and courteously
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the checkout lane
- Handle various payment methods including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, and WIC according to company policies
- Monitor and control cash shortages and overages honestly to prevent loss
- Adhere to company guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Maintain knowledge of current and upcoming ads, promotions, and sales
- Comply with all food safety regulations and store safety programs
- Inspect equipment for maintenance needs and report issues promptly
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products
- Follow all local, state, and federal laws and company policies
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner
- Act with honesty and integrity in handling customer and business information
- Provide assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed
- Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
