Job Duties
- Greet and engage customers actively at the point of sale
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Handle various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, and coupons in compliance with company policies
- Monitor and control cash shortages and overages to prevent loss
- Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol and tobacco
- Report pricing discrepancies to the appropriate coordinator
- Follow established procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay informed about current, future, seasonal, and special advertisements
- Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues to management
- Inspect equipment and report maintenance needs
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions about products
- Follow local, state, and federal laws as well as company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in fast-paced, sometimes stressful environments
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner
- Maintain honesty and integrity in handling customer and business information
- Follow directions and ask for help when needed
- Assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as required
