Job Duties
- Greet, engage and assist customers actively and visibly
- Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately and efficiently
- Handle various tender types including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons and complex loyalty offers according to company policy
- Understand and control cash shortages and/or overages honestly and effectively to reduce loss
- Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons
- Stay current with all present and upcoming ads
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to store management
- Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repair needs
- Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important and appreciated
- Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed
- Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs and older adults
