Job Duties

  • Greet customers warmly and engage with them to enhance their shopping experience
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the POS system
  • Handle multiple tender types including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons, and loyalty offers according to company policy
  • Monitor and adhere to cash handling guidelines to control shortages and overages
  • Ensure compliance with company rules regarding the sale of restricted items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies and other checkout issues to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow procedures for handling postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons as established
  • Stay informed on current, seasonal, and special promotions and ads
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety regulations and store safety programs
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues to management promptly
  • Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needed repairs
  • Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers with product information across departments
  • Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws as well as company policies
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable and cooperative manner to resolve customer issues
  • Demonstrate honesty and integrity when handling customer and business information
  • Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults through direct interaction
  • Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Follow directions carefully and seek assistance when necessary
  • Perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
