Job Duties
- Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently at the check lane
- Handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers and coupons according to company policy
- Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and work to control loss
- Understand and follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Comply with safety procedures and notify management of unsafe conditions, accidents or issues
- Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting issues
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products
- Adhere to local, state, federal laws and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in a high paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict reasonably, non-confrontationally and cooperatively
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
- Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
