Job Duties

  • Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
  • Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently
  • Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons
  • Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and effectively control loss
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items including alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notify store management
  • Inspect equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items needing repair
  • Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Manage conflict reasonably, nonconfrontationally and cooperatively
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues
  • Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
