Job Duties
- Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane
- Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons according to policy
- Adhere to company guidelines on cash shortages, restricted sale items and follow procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Identify unsafe conditions and notify store management
- Conduct preventive maintenance checks on equipment and report issues
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions
- Follow all local, state, federal laws and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in a high paced and stressful environment
- Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed
- Provide support through direct interaction with minors, special needs individuals, and older adults
- Perform essential functions with or without accommodation
