Job Requirements

  • Customer service experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math including counting, addition and subtraction

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to operate Point of Sale (POS) systems
  • Ability to work cooperatively and manage conflict in a nonconfrontational manner
  • Integrity and honesty in handling cash and customer information

  • Experience assisting diverse populations including minors and individuals with special needs
  • Previous experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk preferred but not required

Job Duties

  • Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently at the check lane
  • Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system including handling cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT and other tenders
  • Adhere to company policies regarding cash shortages and overages to control loss
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sales items such as alcohol and tobacco
  • Report pricing discrepancies to Scan Coordinator
  • Comply with company policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special advertisements
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Reinforce safety programs by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions or accidents
  • Inspect equipment regularly and report maintenance needs
  • Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers with product questions
  • Follow all applicable laws and company guidelines
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment
  • Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively
  • Maintain honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when needed
  • Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Perform essential functions with or without accommodation
