- Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk preferred but not required
Job Duties
- Greet and engage customers actively and visibly
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policy
- Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and help control loss
- Understand and apply guidelines on restricted sale items like Alcohol, Tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements
- Maintain all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Comply with safety procedures and notify management of unsafe conditions or accidents
- Conduct preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needed repairs
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues
- Provide support and assistance through interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
