Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • One year of prior retail or related experience preferred
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact politely and effectively with customers
  • Good customer service and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
  • Willingness to follow PPE, safety, food safety and cleaning guidelines
  • Ability to work in varied temperatures and retail environment conditions

Job Duties

  • Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases
  • Process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons accurately
  • Weigh and carefully bag customer purchases
  • Understand use of check-stand equipment such as register, scanner, scale, belts and operate efficiently
  • Responsible for front-end duties such as merchandising check-stand items like newspapers, periodicals, and candy
  • Ensure proper use of product identification and corresponding PLU's and report errors in pricing or signage
  • Maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations
  • Communicate company programs, in-store specials and coupons to customers
  • Comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling, product handling, and sale of regulated products
  • Maintain a clean and well-stocked department ensuring safety and sanitation standards
  • Assist with stocking items as needed
  • Follow all PPE and safety guidelines
  • Follow all food safety and cleaning expectations
  • Follow guest experience guidelines
  • May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience need
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed
