Job Duties
- Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases
- process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons
- weigh and carefully bag customer purchases
- understand and efficiently operate check-stand equipment such as register, scanner, scale, and belts
- perform front-end merchandising such as newspapers, periodicals, and candy
- ensure proper use of product identification and PLU codes
- report errors in pricing or signage
- maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations
- communicate company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers
- comply with company policies on security, cash handling, product handling, and sale of restricted items
- maintain a clean and well-stocked department
- assist with stocking items when needed
- follow all PPE, safety, food safety, and cleaning guidelines
- follow guest experience guidelines
- perform tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs
- undertake additional responsibilities as assigned
