Job Duties
- Being visible and actively greeting, engaging and assisting customers
- processing customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane
- handling various payment tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, and coupons
- adhering to company policies on cash shortages and overages
- complying with guidelines on restricted sale items like alcohol, tobacco and DVDs
- reporting pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- following established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- staying current with ads including present, future, seasonal and special promotions
- adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- reinforcing safety programs by complying with safety procedures and notifying management of unsafe conditions
- practicing preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting issues
- creating a welcoming environment by answering product questions
- complying with all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
- working cooperatively in a high-paced and stressful environment
- managing conflict in a nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
- acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- following directions and seeking assistance when necessary
- providing support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
