Job Duties
- Greet, engage and assist customers actively and courteously
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently through the check lane
- Handle various payment tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policy
- Monitor and control cash shortages or overages honestly and effectively
- Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items including alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with seasonal and special advertisements
- Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Reinforce safety programs by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions or issues to management
- Perform preventive maintenance checks on equipment and report repair needs
- Create a welcoming environment by answering product questions and assisting customers
- Adhere to all local, state, federal laws and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in high-paced and stressful environments
- Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively
- Maintain honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
- Provide support through interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
