Job Requirements

  • Customer service experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math including counting, addition, and subtraction
  • Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk preferred
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative fashion
  • Capacity to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary

Job Duties

  • Greet customers actively and assist them during their shopping experience
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the POS system
  • Handle various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, coupons, and loyalty offers as per company policy
  • Adhere to company guidelines on cash shortages, overages, and restricted sale items such as alcohol and tobacco
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator promptly and follow established policies for gift cards and coupons
  • Stay updated on current and seasonal promotions and ads
  • Maintain food safety regulations and store safety procedures while identifying and reporting unsafe conditions
  • Conduct preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repair needs
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products and store policies
  • Comply with all applicable laws and company guidelines
  • Manage conflict professionally, honestly, and respectfully
  • Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues effectively
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations
