Job Duties
- Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
- process customer transactions through the checkout lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- understand and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policy
- adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages to control loss
- understand and adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items including alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
- adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, accidents or issues
- practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate personnel of repairs needed
- create a welcoming environment for customers by answering product questions
- adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
- work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
- act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues
