Job Duties

  • Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
  • Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently
  • Handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policy
  • Understand and adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages while working honestly to control loss
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Adhere to policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
  • Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Reinforce safety programs by identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management
  • Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs needed
  • Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products
  • Follow all local, state, federal laws and company guidelines
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
  • Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
