Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- prior cashier or customer service experience preferred
- ability to stand for extended periods
- ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds
- ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish preferred
- flexibility to work morning or afternoon shifts including weekends and holidays
- basic math skills
- ability to operate cash register and related equipment
- reliable attendance and punctuality

- ability to understand and follow instructions in both English and Spanish preferred
- excellent interpersonal skills
- ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and small group situations with directors, managers, customers and the general public

- ability to use computer, cash register and lottery, money order machines, etc., to accomplish essential duties
- ability to use 10-key adding machine

Job Duties
- Politely greet customers with a smile and provide excellent customer service
- attend to customers’ needs calling for manager or supervisor when necessary
- promptly scan products or weigh produce being purchased
- operate cash register accurately and efficiently accepting all forms of payment and provide the correct change when appropriate
- maintain cash drawer with sufficient currency and coins
- count out cash drawer at the beginning and end of a shift
- conduct price checks when necessary
- place items in bags for customers
- assist with loading into shopping cart when necessary
- return discarded items back to shelves when necessary
- keep the conveyor belt, scanner, scale and counter clean at all times
- assist with keeping the front of the store clean, organized, and free from safety hazards
- straighten out displays and shelves of merchandise as requested or scheduled
- attend and/or participate in store or department meetings
- punctuality and good attendance in compliance with company policies
- performs other work-related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position
- serve as bagger or facing clerk when necessary
- add or change paper in registers, printer, adding machine or other office equipment
- report any equipment malfunctions to manager on duty
- gather shopping carts from front of store and parking lot when needed
- assist manager on duty in other departments when needed
