Job Duties

  • Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the POS system
  • Handle various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, and coupons as per company policy
  • Adhere to company policies on cash shortages and overages to control loss
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Comply with established procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and report repair needs
  • Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers with product inquiries
  • Adhere to all local, state, federal laws and company guidelines
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Manage conflicts reasonably and nonconfrontationally
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
  • Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
