Job Duties
- Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly
- Process customer transactions through check lanes quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system handling various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, following company policies
- Adhere to cash shortage and overage limits and work to control loss honestly and effectively
- Follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions or issues and report to management
- Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate personnel of needed repairs
- Create a welcoming environment and answer customer questions regarding products and store services
- Adhere to all local, state, federal laws and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek help to resolve customer and business issues
- Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
