Job Duties

  • Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently
  • Handle various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, and coupons according to company policy
  • Understand and adhere to cash shortage and overage limits to control loss
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items including alcohol and tobacco
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures and notify management of unsafe conditions
  • Inspect equipment and report items in need of repair
  • Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
  • Provide support through interaction with minors, people with special needs and older adults
  • Perform essential functions with or without accommodation
