Job Requirements

  • Customer service experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math including counting, addition and subtraction
  • Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk preferred
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
  • Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Duties

  • Greet customers actively and assist with checkout
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the Point of Sale system
  • Handle various payment tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons and loyalty offers according to company policy
  • Adhere to company policies on cash shortages, overages, and restricted sales items
  • Report pricing discrepancies and follow procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with store promotions, seasonal and special ads
  • Maintain food safety standards and comply with safety procedures
  • Identify unsafe conditions or issues and notify management
  • Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and report repairs
  • Create a welcoming environment and answer customer questions
  • Comply with local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines
  • Manage conflict in a professional and cooperative manner
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs and older adults
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
