Job Duties

  • Greet, engage and assist customers proactively at the checkout
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the Point of Sale (POS) system
  • Handle various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and follow company checkout procedures
  • Adhere to company policies regarding cash shortages, overages, and loss prevention
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Comply with policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay informed about current, upcoming, seasonal, and special promotions and ads
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions and equipment issues to store management
  • Create a welcoming and appreciative environment by answering customer questions about products
  • Follow all local, state, and federal laws as well as company guidelines
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable and cooperative manner
  • Act with honesty and integrity while handling customer and business information
  • Seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues
  • Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
