Job Duties
- Greet and engage customers actively
- process customer transactions accurately and efficiently through the point of sale system
- handle various payment types including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, coupons according to company policy
- control cash shortages and overages honestly to prevent loss
- adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
- comply with all food safety regulations
- reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions or accidents
- perform preventive maintenance inspections and report equipment issues
- create a welcoming shopping environment by answering customer questions about products
- follow local, state, federal laws, and company guidelines
- manage conflict in a reasonable and cooperative manner
- act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
- follow directions and seek assistance when required
- work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
