Job Duties

  • Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly
  • Process customer transactions through the checkout lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently
  • Handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policy
  • Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and work to control loss honestly and effectively
  • Understand and enforce guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions or accidents, and notify store management
  • Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needed repairs
  • Create a welcoming environment where customers feel important and appreciated
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
  • Provide support through interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
