Job Duties

  • Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane
  • Operate Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers and coupons
  • Adhere to company cash handling limits and work to control loss honestly and effectively
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to Scan Coordinator
  • Follow company policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with seasonal and special ads and promotions
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to management
  • Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting issues
  • Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers with product questions
  • Adhere to relevant laws and company guidelines
  • Manage work in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment cooperatively
  • Handle conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
