Job Duties
- Greet, engage and assist customers actively and visibly
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at checkout
- Handle various payment types including cash, checks, credit/debit cards, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons and loyalty offers according to company policy
- Monitor and control cash shortages and overages with honesty and integrity
- Adhere to company guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established procedures for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions, accidents or issues
- Create an inviting environment where customers feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products
- Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company policies
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict reasonably and respectfully
- Maintain confidentiality and act with honesty regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues
- Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs and older adults
- Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
