Job Duties

  • Greet, engage and assist customers actively and visibly
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at checkout
  • Handle various payment types including cash, checks, credit/debit cards, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons and loyalty offers according to company policy
  • Monitor and control cash shortages and overages with honesty and integrity
  • Adhere to company guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow established procedures for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions, accidents or issues
  • Create an inviting environment where customers feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company policies
  • Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Manage conflict reasonably and respectfully
  • Maintain confidentiality and act with honesty regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues
  • Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs and older adults
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
