Job Duties
- Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases
- process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons
- weigh and carefully bag customer purchases
- understand use of check-stand equipment including register, scanner, scale, and belts and operate efficiently
- perform front-end duties such as merchandising check-stand items like newspapers, periodicals, and candy
- ensure proper use of product identification and PLU codes and report pricing or signage errors
- maintain understanding of current store programs, specials, and product locations
- communicate company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers while modeling high standards of service
- comply with company policies on security, cash handling, product handling, and sales of restricted products
- maintain a clean and well-stocked department adhering to safety and sanitation procedures
- assist with stocking items as needed
- follow all PPE and safety guidelines
- follow all food safety and cleaning expectations
- adhere to guest experience guidelines
- may be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs
- perform additional responsibilities as assigned
