Job Duties

  • Greet, engage and assist customers actively and visibly
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently
  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various payment methods including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, coupons according to company policy
  • Adhere to company guidelines on cash shortages or overages and control loss honestly and effectively
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sales items such as alcohol, tobacco and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with seasonal and special advertisements
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Notify store management of unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and notify management of repair needs
  • Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about product availability and store information
  • Comply with all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable and cooperative manner
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues
  • Perform essential job functions with or without accommodation
  • Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments
